Developing an innovative online cancer information center

An increasingly complex environment for cancer care and research highlights the need to streamline access to cancer information, especially clinical trials. Leaders of Georgia Center for Oncology Research and Education (CORE) recognized the need for a reliable and accessible public source of cancer care information. Working with professionals, patients, survivors, and caregivers, Georgia CORE created, a model online cancer information center.

Georgia CORE developed unique processes for capturing, verifying, updating, and customizing information using data feeds from the National Cancer Institute Physician Data Query. Trained ‘super users' from leading Georgia CORE research network affiliates evaluate profiles and update data. Georgia CORE has worked to secure funding from several partners to promote and publicize this online cancer information center throughout Georgia.

In April 2012, Georgia CORE launched, a unique online cancer information center specifically for residents in the state of Georgia.
