Abstract Submission Guidelines

The 2018 Oncology Nurse Advisor (ONA) Navigation Summit is now accepting abstracts for poster presentation. The poster presentation opening will be conducted at the welcome reception on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at the Hilton Chicago. Posters will remain on display through Saturday, June 16, 2018.

Oncology nurse navigators, care coordinators, nurses, clinicians, program staff, and researchers who work in the field of oncology navigation and care coordination are encouraged to submit an abstract for consideration. We encourage submission of abstracts that discuss any of the following areas related to navigation:

  • Innovations in navigation models or processes
  • Navigation cases related to specific population (disease specific, underrepresented groups)
  • Side effect management
  • Development of navigation support tools and technologies
  • Outcome measurements/metrics in navigation
  • Survivorship program implementation

The deadline for abstract submission is Friday, May 4, 2018. Submit your abstract via email to Lauren.Burke@haymarketmedia.com. No actual posters should be sent for consideration. You will be notified of abstract acceptance within 2 weeks of your submission date, abstract presenters receive a discount on their Summit registration.

Abstract Guidelines

Abstracts must be identified as one of the following categories:

Programmatic: Depicts innovative programs or practices that are being used to create navigation programs and improve health care function of the adult, young adult, or cancer survivor as well as helping them to reach optimal survivorship.

Research: Studies that investigate recent efforts to improve process, implement process, measure success, develop best practices, reduce health inequalities, and improve disparities in oncology patients and survivors.

Solution(s) Posters: These posters are intended to highlight the utilization of approaches, methods, and tools that oncology professionals can implement in their practice setting.

Abstract and Poster Requirements


  • Abstracts should include the following elements: background, methods, results, and conclusions.
  • Abstracts must report on recent research findings, not descriptions of planned research.
  • Indicate the category of each submitted abstract.
  • Abstracts will appear as submitted, but are subject to necessary grammatical edits.
  • Abstracts will have a word limit of 500 words (not including title, headers, or authors).
  • All abstracts must have: (a) title; (b) authors' names; (c) designation of the primary author; and (d) contact information for the primary author. The person designated as the presenting author must attend the conference in order for the poster to be displayed. (Abstract presenters receive a discounted registration fee.)

Poster Requirements

If the abstract is accepted, the presenting author must be available to present their poster at the welcome reception on June 14, 2018, from 6:30 PM-7:30 PM.

Poster dimensions are 3' × 5'.

Permission to Reproduce
All accepted abstracts will appear on OncologyNurseAdvisor.com and ONANavigationSummit.com preceding the conference, with accompanying news coverage of the presented posters after the conference has completed. By submitting an abstract it is understood that the primary author has the permission of the coauthors to reproduce the abstract as written.
