Therapeutic Use:

Indications for MEGACE ORAL SUSPENSION:

Anorexia, cachexia, or unexplained significant weight loss in patients diagnosed with AIDS.

Adult:

Initially 800mg/day.

Children:

Not recommended.

Contraindications:

Nursing mothers.

Warnings/Precautions:

History of thromboembolic disease. Diabetes. Pregnancy (Cat.X): not recommended.

Interactions:

May increase insulin requirements. Decreases indinavir levels.

Pharmacological Class:

Progestin.

Adverse Reactions:

GI upset, impotence, flatulence, rash, hypertension, fever, decreased libido, breakthrough bleeding, hyperglycemia, insomnia.
