Early detection and proper care are key factors in prostate cancer, the second leading cause of cancer deaths in US men. In addition, disease recurrence is a strong concern among survivors. The American Cancer Society released a set of guidelines addressing the long-term primary care for survivors of prostate cancer. The guidelines outline follow-up care, monitoring for recurrence, and screening for secondary primary cancers. They also reiterate the need to educate survivors about physical exercise and smoking cessation.
